One of the best parts of being an Oahu wedding, elopement, engagement, and surprise proposal photographer is capturing the pure excitement and joy of couples as they celebrate one of the most important moments of their lives. Recently, I had the honor of photographing a couple who wanted breathtaking engagement photos to use for their save-the-date cards, wedding invitations, and engagement announcement—and Oahu’s stunning mountain and beach backdrops gave us the perfect setting.

A Romantic Start at Kualoa Beach Park

We started the session at Kualoa Beach Park, where the towering Ko‘olau Mountains provided a jaw-dropping, cinematic backdrop. The soft, golden light filtered through the lush greenery, adding an ethereal glow to every shot.

As the couple stood hand in hand, taking in the beauty of the landscape, I captured their genuine emotions—the love in their eyes, the excitement in their smiles, and the overwhelming happiness of this new chapter in their lives. They were naturals in front of the camera, effortlessly laughing, embracing, and soaking in the moment together.

Golden Hour at Kaaawa Beach

After capturing the majesty of the mountains, we made our way to Kaaawa Beach, where the teal-blue ocean and golden sand created the perfect contrast to our earlier mountain shots.

The couple kicked off their shoes and strolled along the shoreline, the waves gently rolling in beside them. The sun began to dip lower, casting a warm glow over the water and creating a dreamy, golden-hour atmosphere.

They danced barefoot in the sand, shared quiet moments of reflection, and laughed as the cool ocean breeze swirled around them. One of my favorite shots was them standing on the rocks as the waves crashed behind them—a powerful, yet intimate moment that truly embodied their love story.
